Helping You Overcome Pain Drain!

We can all agree that pain has an essential biological function, but too much — or the wrong sort — ruins lives and puts a sizeable dent in economic productivity - David Holmes.

Trauma leads to nociceptive pain. Nociceptive receptors are found in skin, internal organs, muscles, joints, membranes around the brain and spinal chord. This is why dysmenorrhea is felt beyond the uterus/womb.

Next is the pain signal. The pain signal travels along axons to the nociceptive nerve cells to the dorsal horn of the spinal chord and onto the brain.

Lastly feeling the pain. Nociceptive pain tends to be short-lived and associated with injury. Nociceptive cells exert a powerful influence. If pain persists beyond 12 weeks, it becomes chronic pain — and its nature can change.

The problem with pain (thank you C.S. Lewis) is that this brain mechanism behind chronic pain’s sapping of motivation. Chronic pain triggers psychological exhaustion. Pain changes your brain chemistry.
